When I received the invitation to see the latest designs to come to Manila for Lalique, I was pretty excited for the chance to add up some pieces to our modest collection.
Lalique is fine French crystal created by René Lalique, one of the most renowned jewellers in 1888. Suffice to say, Lalique jewels are exquisite, and it made perfume bottles and even car hood ornaments precious.

It was fun catching up with some of the loveliest titas who shared crystal appreciation, but let’s just say the fun quadrupled when Lalique introduced the Patron bottle. Most know Lalique for its vases, chandeliers and other glass art pieces, and it was high time -though quite a surprise- when it came up with a tequila bottle. The displayed bottle was not up for tasting, but Patron opened a special booth where variations of the tequila made the rounds. As much as I appreciate the simple yet classic beauty of a crystal, I have to admit my appreciation for a good bottle of smooth tequila might even exceed the first. haha! :)

My poison has always been Patron XO (being a coffee lover myself). Do you know that as scary as “tequila” may sound, the XO variant actually doesn’t give you a hangover? #Fact!
Living in Greenhills, my husband and I would frequent the nearby old VV Soliven building along Edsa- Annapolis which hides some treasures of fine antiques- including Lalique. Not sure if it’s still there, but if you want to satisfy your crystal curiosity, check them out in Rustan’s Edsa Shangri-la, Makati and Cebu. Happy hunting!
